Just to let you guys know: On the Core mailing list, there’s some discussion going on as to whether parts of make_resourceful/resource_controller should make it into core. Find it at http://groups.google.com/group/rubyonrails-core/browse_thread/thread/fd6bab30d4c100d4.

That Elliot Mason comment at the end of your podcast was in poor taste. Think about your demographic and what we actually want to hear before including content like that.

Gregg PollackJuly 17, 2008 @ 02:39 PM

Sorry you didn’t care for the humor Byran.. You’re the first person we’ve heard from who didn’t appreciate it. I strongly encourage you to leave a voicemail explaining why, because we’re kinda in the dark here.

bryanlJuly 18, 2008 @ 08:48 AM

I’m not going to leave a voicemail.

The reason it was offensive is that you were glorifying negative racial stereotypes and using offense language (the N-word) in the same podcast where you advertising your services for code reviews. Offensive humor has its place, and most of us do enjoy it at times. It felt out of context here, and kind of threw me for a loop because your podcast on itunes doesn’t have an “explicit” tag.

Just because you didn’t hear about it, doesn’t mean it didn’t offend:

The content on your podcast is mostly good. Don’t ruin it! :)

R. Elliott MasonJuly 18, 2008 @ 02:19 PM

Sorry it offended you, bryanl. I’m not the one who included the message but I’m the one who left it.

It wasn’t meant to offend or even glorify negative racial stereotypes. Rather, it was meant to be absurd. Come on, Netscape 4.0? That’s a racial stereotype now? The humor was supposed to be in how unrealistic the whole situation is, not in being offensive.
